Dual Ethernet Connectivity ISSUE.

I have a Asus P8Z77-v Deluxe motherboard with dual NIC cards.
(1 Intel gigbyte and 1 Marvel)  One NIC goes to the internet router DHCP.
The other is set up statically 10.5.60.15 and goes to another router through the DMZ port so I can map a network drive
on another system for updating prices for a POS system.  I cannot keep both connections active.  When I try map the network drive with the Internet NIC enabled It will not map network drive.  I cannot use wireless adapters either.  If I disconnect from the
internet either wired or wirelessly it immediately picks up the network drive.
I can map the network drive then sometimes get the wireless adapter to work but it invariably after some period of time disconnects the network drive and then it cannot be found
unless I disconnect from the wireless.
I had to set up the Internet NIC DHCP because I get a disjointed network error since they are on differ gateways.  So I set up a static DHCP on the router.

Cannot surf the web without continually disconnecting and reconnecting

From the time I first turned on my new computer with Vista, I have had trouble connecting to the Internet.
I have to let the computer connect, then manually disconnect and reconnect.
I can then access two, maybe three, web sites before I get a message
that "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page." If I click Diagnose Connection Problems, there is never anything wrong with the connection.
Then I have to manually disconnect and reconnect, even though my status is Access: Local & Internet.
There is
nothing wrong with my connection - I have another computer running Windows Xp that connects without a problem.
I thought maybe it was an IE problem so I downloaded Firefox, but there was no difference.
I started researching the problem and found out that SP2
addresses Internet problems.
I downloaded it and installed it and like a miracle, everything started working like it should - no more disconnect / connect every three or four web sites, no more disconnect / connect every time I leave the computer long enough
for it to go to sleep mode.
Life was good.
Then I got annoyed with Firefox trying to take over certain web sites and decided to uninstall it.
And like a miracle gone bad, the problem came back.
Let me say again, the problem is not with my modem or Internet
connection - my other computer connects just fine.
What can I do to resolve this problem?

I have a wireless dsl modem and an hp hdx 16 computer.

Unfortunately that only tests your connectivity to certain specific sites, not the ones that you are having problems with.

Then I have to manually disconnect and reconnect, even though my status is Access: Local & Internet.
What else have you tried then?

Better diagnosis may help find a solution or at least a better workaround.

E.g.
you could start with the  DNS  lookup.  If it is too slow or if the problem site involves a secondary lookup for an alias that could explain your symptom and give you a better workaround.  For example, you could switch to a cmd window and do a  ping -n
1  with the name that you are using.   Note that you are doing the ping for its lookup, not for any expectation of getting an ICMP reply from that server.   If the ping's reverse lookup shows that an alias is involved you could ping -n 1 that name too.  That
could get both lookups cached in the dnscache.   Then you could use  ipconfig /displaydns  to see the TTL  (Time to Live)  for them and this could give you a proof that your lookup was not the issue for  IE.

Another way to get some diagnostics for your symptom would be to run  Fiddler2  and see what it says is happening with IE's requests.

I have a wireless dsl modem and an hp hdx 16 computer.

More important is the interface to the Internet and how lookups are done.   E.g.
if the interface appears to be a LAN then there could be different timing characteristics than if the interface appeared to be dial-up via PPPoE.   You can check that with  ipconfig
/all   Similarly, if the interface appears to be a LAN then your lookups may all be being done in your modem and so different timing characteristics occur with them too.   Again, Ipconfig /all can give you some details about that.  You can also get clues just
by entering  nslookup.

In any case I don't think that saying that your hardware works with XP or with Firefox under Vista is sufficient to say the problem is entirely IE8's.   ; )

Good luck
